Solar Transactions: A Major Step Forward
Pis 18, 05Feb 15, 21
The software developers at Asgardia have come up with a small albeit important breakthrough. Starting from next week, all new Solar transactions will also be seen on a public blockchain. The Solar has migrated to QTUM, one of the most stable blockchains in the world.
The first question the Asgardian team had to answer was, ‘Shall we create our own blockchain from scratch or use the existing one?’ In the long run, Asgardia aims to launch its new type of economy based on the decentralised autonomous protocols. Such an ambitious goal requires certain capabilities and features utilised within the blockchain technology.
The team decided in favour of an existing blockchain that would fit Asgardia’s needs best, building our protocol and an ecosystem on top of that. The main concern was the system’s security, but blockchains, being decentralised, can not be controlled by a third party and thus are pretty safe.
QTUM blockchain
We picked QTUM that even has one of its nodes floating in space, but not for that only reason. QTUM boasts having a highly decentralised network with over 950 nodes, the so-called smart contracts, and almost zero transaction fees, with a really high speed of transactions. The novel feature makes the transactions even more secure and improves the Solar usability, coupled with full control of one’s own funds.
Signing transactions
In regular blockchains, you have to sign the transactions with your private key, which takes a lot of effort. In the Solar network, however, your wallet keys are encrypted with your Asgardian password in a safe and simple way. Nobody ever has access to your wallet, including Asgardia.
Migrating to the new system
Some simple steps are required to upgrade your Solar e-wallet and enjoy all of its benefits. Just follow the instructions issued by the system. You are also advised to check the FAQ section.
The system will suggest that you upgrade your wallet once you receive the Solars to your older wallet (screenshot 1), or try to send any amount using your older wallet (screenshot 2). Once you have upgraded, and your recipient has not, the system will issue another type of warning, suggesting to inform the recipient of the necessity to upgrade (screenshot 3).
